How a Small Emergency Service Became a 3-Truck GTA Flood Operation
Michael Chen founded Basement Flood Toronto in 2008 after 15 years with a Toronto commercial water damage restoration firm that shut down during the 2008 recession. What started as a small emergency response service grew into a full-service basement flood operation covering the GTA. Today we run three trucks out of Toronto and handle everything from Category-1 clean water incidents to Category-3 sewage backups requiring full AMRT containment.
The company grew through the storms that shaped Toronto's flood history. The July 8 2013 storm caused about $850M in damage and filled our schedule for weeks. After the August 2018 flooding, the crew worked 47 semi-detached homes on the Rockcliffe-Smythe blocks. Along the way we took on larger clients, including The Kingsway Estates on Bloor West and the Willowdale Manor rental portfolio on Yonge Street.
We buy extraction, drying and air scrubbing gear from 4 Canadian restoration equipment suppliers. That is why we can hold price and lead time even when the market moves after a major storm event.

Michael founded Basement Flood Toronto in 2008 after 15 years with a Toronto commercial water damage restoration firm that shut down during the 2008 recession. He built the company around one idea: publish the price, document everything, and tell homeowners the truth about their claim. Michael does not answer the dispatch line himself; the field team handles inbound calls around the clock.
Marco Andriolo
Lead Field Technician
Marco has 22 years in the trade and runs every Category 3 sewage response personally. He sets the containment, makes the calls on what stays and what goes, and signs off the dry standard before any rebuild starts.
Jenna Park
Project Coordinator
Jenna handles insurance direct-billing with Aviva, Intact, Definity, Wawanesa, Economical, TD and Belair adjusters, so the paperwork moves faster than the drying cycle. She is the one who sends your IICRC S500 package on day two.
